New Armor

chest protector

So I decided it was time for me to get a new chest/arm protector for hockey. My current one simply wasn’t cutting it anymore. It shifts positions constantly, leaving certain areas of my torso open to shots, and the padding isn’t as firm as it used to be. Just this last season, I received three fairly significant bruises that took some time to heal.

I went to the Anaheim location of Hockey Giant right after work yesterday to check out their inventory. Equipment prices can get pretty steep, but safety first right? I left with the Tour 800 Aironic Pro Senior Hockey Chest & Arm Protector and was really excited to try it out. Good thing I had a game yesterday night.

As with any new gear, first time use can be quite uncomfortable because it still needs to get broken in. It felt a bit heavier and hotter too, but that’s probably because it has more padding than what I’ve been used to.

It should be worth it. This is the second straight season I’m playing two nights a week (Friday and Sunday nights) on two different teams, so this chest protector will definitely see a lot of action.

And it did good yesterday – we won 5-4, and I left with no bruises =)
